Presentation

Lyn Thompson – LBH Promotions and B2B with a Twist on Advertising and Marketing

There are different types on marketing and advertising, but today we are going to talk the best form of advertising – YOU.

• Networking tips:
 Look presentable, even professional – dress nicely
 Speak clearly
 Don’t be to quiet or too LOUD
 Be friendly
 Make sure you don’t move into peoples space – e.g. really close or waving your arms around
 Have a 30 second infomercial which you can say
 Ask the other person how they are and what they do

• Expo tips:
• Set up stand neatly and professional
• Have brochures or business cards to hand out
• Stand out in front of your stand to greet people.
• Don’t sit down or behind table or stand as not welcoming
• Introduce yourself – give short infomercial
• Be interested in the visitors. Ask them why they are here
• Don’t leave your site unattended, have someone cover your stand always
• Have a give away or complimentary lollies for the visitors
• Collect people’s information. Always express their information is for your data base only and will not be sold or given to others.

• Types of Advertising:
• Newspapers
• Radio
• Booklets
• Newsletters
• Emails
• Blogs
• Websites
• Facebook
• Linked In
• Television
• Print Media – tangible
• Television
• Radio

• Important points
• Plan your marketing and advertising 6 – 12 months in front
• Decide who is your market? Age, religion, creed, demographics
• Get your name out there
• Know you branding? Your label?
• Decide on pricing and how much you can afford
• Need to be consistent when advertising
• The more you buy the cheaper rate you may be able to get
• Promote your website
• Using newspaper and radio works well together
• Capture your audience
• Offer a free editorial – look for stories that are for the community
• Let people know when you get awards
• Show people you support charities
• Work out your budget on what you can afford
• Survey people – how they came across you – advertising, friend,
• Look at colour ads in newspapers – they are pricy though
• What is in your advertising – needs to have:
 Picture
 Logo
 Business name
 Wording
 Contact details
 Website
 Make sure it is a simple message
 Maybe bullet point
 Make an attention grabber headline.
