No Presentation today – open forum on ways to improve your business.

Information utilised from Toyne Business Consultants – 20 ways to improve your business.

the turnover in your business is made up of just 3 factors;
The number of customers you have
The number of times those customers buy from you, and
The average value of each sale you make to them.

By increasing any or all of these factors…. you increase your turnover. Do you know these figures for your business?

Open discussion
o About how to do this point - Working out averages.

Identify what makes the product or service you sell, different from your competitors… then tell everyone.

Customers buy the differences they perceive. So you need to have them thinking about what you want, when they make a buying decision.

Open discussion on:
o Total Solution – what the client needs
o Pay for what you use and not for what you don’t
o Packages
o Offer a special

Referrals are the most cost effective form of marketing and often provide the most converted leads to sales.

Do you have a system for measuring, rewarding and maximising the referrals to your business?

What networking activities are you involved in to enable you to received referrals?

Do you ask your current customers for referrals?

o Referrals – ask for more
o Referrals are free
o Use free referrals, do not swap money or product for referrals – it keeps it open and each part knows what is expected.
o If someone gives you a referral, make sure they have used them as well. Not someone told you to use them.
o Build rapport with your clients
o Build rapport with your referral partners.
o Thank people for their referrals.
o Don’t expect them
o Test and measure where your referrals are coming from. How did the client get your details
o Costing for advertising through measuring – TV, radio, paper, etc
o Build relationships between businesses to refer to each other
o Know what other business people do so you can refer

Use the first sale to a customer as a lead in for future sales.

It is much easier to sell to an existing customer than a new one. Identify what further sales you can make to the customer. E.g.; maintenance items, add on products, or more sales of the same product.

Open Discussion
o Up sell, cross sell and bundle
o Working with others in business to sell to clients. E.g. – financial planner/mortgage broker; Conveyancer/mortgage broker/real estate agent.

Keep a current database of your existing, past and potential customers.

Not only does this allow follow up sales to be made easily (for the previous tip), it allows you to keep in contact with your customers. You can spend your marketing budget efficiently if you can target your customers. It will also allow you to keep your name in the minds of your customers.

Open Discussion
o Keeping in touch with people.
o Create a flow chart and spreadsheet to help you
o Phone clients
o Letters to clients
o Visit platinum clients
o Send cards
o Send emails
o Basic account management builds relationship gives referrals.

What is customer service?
Friendly service
A smile
A good tone in voice
Communication
Acknowledging people
Acknowledging inquiries
Being prompt
Time saving – response to email straight away
Not letting your customer run you
Pick up the phone – 3 rings
Polite attitude
Other things on customer service
Set block times – morning, lunch and afternoon for emails.
Skype no.s – normal calls coming in to your business through skype
Customers are always right
There are some customers that we do not need in our business
Rudeness from customers should not be tolerated
Rudeness from team members who don’t know their job – make sure staff have job descriptions
If you cant help someone, find someone that can
Refer customers to other people.
Ring people back within a service response time – not 2 weeks later. Within 24 hrs, or the next business day
Make an effort
Treat all clients/customers the same. Whether small or big. Same service, you never know when the small ones become big ones.
Not being selfish with your knowledge
Do surveys on your clients – ask your clients what they want.
Utilise survey monkey – free.
Survey Questions for your clients:
o How did you decide to use our company to assist with you business insurance?
o How does my "service" compare to other providers you use?
o Is there anything that stands out or impresses you most?
o I am considering diversifying my services/product lines. Are there any products in particular that would interest you?
o Is there anything I can do better?

Today’s Presentation: Tony Bourke on Insurances

Insurance tips and Traps
- Under insurance penalties are severe:
- Example – Contents Sum Insured on Office Policy $50,000
o Actual Full replacement value should have been $100,000
o Storm Claim – contents damage is $40,000 to repair and replace
o Insurer only pays $20,000 as client is under insured by 50%
- Solution – Valuation or pre loss Assessment:
o Can cost as little as $650 for a pre loss assessment and in some cases insurers will remove the under insurance penalty from the policy.
- Questions from group:
o Insurance for Markets and stall holders.
§ Market organisers need to have their own insurance
§ Each stall holder should have their own insurance
§ You cannot on sell insurance to the stall holders
§ You can get one off policies or annual policies
§ Go online to AAMI
§ Cover is for product and public liability
o Home insurance, landlords insurance, contents & building.
§ Not all the same
§ Prices have doubled and tripled since the floods and cyclones in Qld this yr
§ Don’t judge on price
§ Check you are covered for flood/fire/water damage/etc
§ Accidental damage needs to be covered
§ Defined events need to be covered
§ Some insurance companies do not cover for floods
§ Contents include – carpets, window furnishings aswell
o Is it cheaper to pay monthly or yearly and is it good to combine insurances to get a discount.
§ Insurances should be reviewed every 12 months
§ Really no difference between monthly and yearly now
§ Discounts for combining policies. You can do it, but may miss out on a better offer if you have it with a few companies.
o Pricing – Agreed or Indemnity what’s the difference
§ Agreed – is agreed price or replacement for new
§ Indemnity – is market value
o Under /over insured.
§ As mentioned previously, under insurance can work out detrimental to you in a claim
§ Over insurance is not necessary beneficially either
§ Go online to the insurance companies and use the online calculators
o Under 25 drivers on your car
§ Make sure they can buy calling your insurance company.
§ Some insurance companies have clauses
§ Check under 25
§ Own car – maybe get 3rd party property for under 25s if car only worth $1000. (speak to a insurance broker for further information as subject to exclusions and advice)

Thanks Tony for your time and information today.

Today’s Presentation: Tony Bourke on Goal Setting

Questions from group to Tony:
How to keep focus
How to keep on track of your goals
Prioritising
Flexible – how to be

Discussion:
Who has a goal?
Who has their goals on them (wallet/diary)
People don’t set goals as they don’t know how to
Goals motivate you
You only need to take the 1st step
Commit to something
Go to www.tonybourke.com.au to get the goal sheets.
People who wrote down a goal, a year later, 80% had accomplished them
Be specific about a goal
E.g.- I want a car
I will have a silver ix35 2011 Hyundai by 1.11.11
Be grateful: I am happy and grateful for…..
Imagine: How does it look in your mind/picture
Feel: get a good feeling/ excitement for it
Good book to read is: Mike Dooley – Don’t mess with the cursed how’s!
Be persistent
If it doesn’t happen, change the date
Be comfortable
By having a goal, you are in the top 10% in the world
Read your goals daily, and as much as you can
Make the first step
Don’t forget to stay in the moment – enjoy the journey
Watch what the voice in your head says. Stay positive. If it is negative, drop it & let go.
Focus on the next step
Stay on track by reading your goals regularly.

Thanks Tony for your time and information today.

Today we raised $53(included in total for year). Thanks for your support. Today’s winner is Mark Izzard. Thanks to Kathy Maree who has donated today’s prize.

Today’s Presentation: Julie on Changing your Mindset

Mind set is the ideas & attitudes in which a person deals with things
How should we? What we do? Constrains us
These are the things we put on ourselves
Beliefs can be made up of
Environment
Things that happen to us
Things we need to achieve to get to where we want to be
Main Belief most people have is “ I’m not good enough”
We set high expectation of ourselves and other’s have high expectations of us
Not giving ourselves permission to live our full potential
Living to expectations - leads people to depression
We need to change our beliefs
Change the language we use
We have 50 -70,000 thoughts per day
The more you say it the more you live it – so think, say and live positive
Delete “have to” and “should” and can to “I am”
Take down walls around you
Take a positive look at the language you use
Write down positive language and put on your fridge or wall.
I am looking forward to….
I have ….
I nourish myself with love.
I bring peace and calm into my life
Questions
How do you turn the chitchat off in your head?
We trained it, so we have to untrain it
Need to meditate
Be mind full – means being present in the moment
Exercise – physically, which will change your endorphins
Change your focus
Meditate:
Clear a room,
Light a candle and watch the flame
Eyes will get tired
Make meditation a regular habit in your life, same time each day will help you take control of your life
How to put things in practice?
Takes time
Deal with one item/chore at a time
Write a list of everything you need to complete
Organisation
Change deadlines from 20 minutes to 24 hrs.
Think about everything differently
Be aware of your values
Be aware of your beliefs
Be aware of what you say
What you say becomes your belief
Remember …. I am….
Do it
See it
Hear it
Feel it
Complete a vision board
Set goals
Be aware of your language
Remember we all have an unconscious mind of a 7 yr old
Dreams – write down the information or words in what your dreams tell you.
Be positive

Thanks Julie for your time and information today.

Today we raised $40(included in total for year). Thanks for your support. Today’s winner is Sue Liptrott, Thanks to Tarnia who has donated today’s prize.

Planningwerx4u has Business Planning Cds for $50 each, if you would like one please let Tarnia know.
