Facts:

1 in 11 women will get breast cancer this year
1 in 7 men will get prostrate cancer
1 in 5 will have a mental disorder – depression, bi polar, breakdown
There are 266,000 babies born each year
Life expectancy for the average person is 81.4 years
Every year 200,000 kids get diagnosed with an illness
Every year 547,000 kids aged 1 – 14 are injured
116,000 people got married last year
47,000 people got divorced last year
Victoria bushfires – Comminsure paid their clients $90 Million in home and contents and building insurance, but they only paid $800,000 in life insurance claims.

When you think about these statistics what do you think about? If you were to be seriously injured, have a trauma or die, how would you family survive?

I specialise in helping families as well as key person insurances for small businesses to protect themselves, and their families.

I can provide cover for:

Life Cover – pays a lump sum benefit on death – pays out mortgages, personal debt, funeral expenses, and maybe put some money away for the family.

Total & Permanent Disability – pays a lump sum benefit on disablement. For example if you lost limbs, became a quadriplegic or paraplegic.

Trauma Cover – pays a lump sum benefit to you if you are diagnosed with a trauma. For example if you had a stroke or heart attack, cancer.

Income Protection – pays up to 75% of your wage as a monthly benefit to you whilst you are off work due to illness or injury.

There are conditions that may apply to these; however this is a little bit of information that might help you understand insurance.
If you are in business with a partner, if something happened to them, who would be your new partner – their spouse. How would you pay the bills, or pay their share of the business out.

If you have any questions please feel free to your financial planner, if you don’t have one and would like an insurance check up let me know and I can come out and have a chat with you.

Tony Bourke: AIIB Insurance
General Insurance – You and Your Business

Tony specialises in general insurance for your business – property and injury.

Insurances are:

Public Liability – covers you if someone of the public injures themselves at your place of work

Workers Compensation – covers you and your employees at work through injury and death

Business Property Insurance – Computers, stock, warehouses

Vehicle Insurance – work vehicles – cars, trucks

There may be conditions that apply.

As an insurance broker, we can come out and assess your business and make sure it is set up correctly. Then we go through the insurance company for what you need.

AIIB provide a business health check. We look at your Public Liability, review your workers compensation.

There may be penalties if you are under insured, so it is best to review each year as your needs and/or situation may change.

Employees are not covered under public liability.

Workers compensation is different in each state – there is different legislation. NSW has Work Cover, which you can go through your broker. You should check your classification and make sure you are correctly classified. As the premiums can be quite different.

Sometimes journey’s to and from work are not covered.
Log on to www.alliance.com.au and complete the free valuation check

Why should you review your general insurance each year – your turnover, staff and products change each year.

If you would like a free health checkup contact Tony or go to the website www.aiib.com.au

Work Cover have been in touch with me and have asked that we get all our questions together on Work cover and they will come out and answer them.
Please email all questions to tgurney@gurneyfinancialservices.com.au

Our next meeting we have David from Active Assist and Mark from Unique Security presenting to our group. We look forward to seeing you all.

Thank you all for coming along. Feel free to come along next time, bring a friend. Remember this group is for small business owners to help build relationships with other small business owners, and to offer assistance to others if needed.

For those available, please stay around and have a chat or catch up with someone.
