Who we are?

Small and Home Business owners meeting to build relationships from other SBO’s.

What is CT?

Relatively casual meeting group, where you can network, talk about business ideas and strategies, and learn from one another.

Where?

Tuggerah’s Zenith Centre.

When?

At 10.30 am on the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays of the month. Arrival 10.25 am for 10.30 am start. (Runs for about 1 hour)

Update on our Raffle?

The raffle is going around. This will go together with today’s collection to the Iris Foundation. For April & May we raised $95. Total $315 for the year.

For June so far we have raised $24.50.

Christmas Party:

We will be having our final get together on the 22nd December. We have booked into the Zenith for our Christmas party. Tickets are $39 (plus drinks – pay on the day). Numbers collected over next couple of months. And payment will be collected by 30th of November.

Westpac Chopper Day:

Wyong Race day is coming up again on the 1st of July. I have booked 2 tables - 20 seats. If you would like to come along, Tickets are $90 each – first in first serve I have 12 seats left for the tables, payment are to be paid to either myself or Shannon and tell her you will be on the Coffee Time tables. Payment needed ASAP.

Hugh Bowman - Bowman Coastwide Bookkeeping

Keeping records organised for you or your bookkeeper will be cheaper in the long run
What does your accountant like?
MYOB, Quickbooks, Accounting Software
Making easy for Accountant
Have a bookkeeper who specialises in your system and can assist you
It should only take a few hours a month/week to do your books depending on you business.
Get trained – Community College (for basics) more indepth is required to understand the reasoning behind all the reporting and details.
Look and be professional
Email invoices & Statements – check the setup of you computer though to confirm this is easier.
Understand your reports and the figures associated
Under $75,000 you are not needed to be registered but check with your accountant as it may benefit you if you are.
Good if assets prior to 31/12/09 for tax purpose
Bank Statements can be good to see where you are spending
Leasing/flexirent can be good but read the fine print may work out to be more expensive and check the lease arrangements

Questions arising from Group

What is the approximate price of a bookkeeper? $30 - $100 per hour
Check with you accountant regarding what expenses are allowed.
For your vehicle keep a log book for min 12 weeks and receipts for all expenses incurred and check with your accountant what is claimable and in what proportions.
New laws came in on March 1st 2010 regarding bookkeepers. Their training and ability to undertake BAS. ATO Website will be of assistance for more details. Minimum for BAS bookkeepers is Cert 4 in Financial Services (Accounting) and 1400 hours working under an accountant and registered with the ATO to do this.
